Crawling and indexing

Crawling is a search engine fetching your pages; indexing is it deciding to store a page so it can appear in results.

Google can crawl a page and still choose not to index it, often because it looks too similar to other pages or too thin to be useful. Search Console's page indexing report shows which of your pages are indexed and why others aren't.

Why it matters to an agent

A page that isn't indexed can't rank for anything. On a listing site with thousands of pages, the indexed share is the first number to watch.
