Noindex

Noindex is an instruction on a page that tells search engines not to include it in their results.

It's the right tool for pages that shouldn't compete in search: thank-you pages, private reports, and listing pages too thin to be useful. A page marked noindex by mistake silently disappears from Google.

Why it matters to an agent

Keeping weak pages out of the index can help the rest of the site; a stray noindex on the wrong template can hide your best pages.
